The Webster dictionary describes the word embrace as to accept, to cherish and to encircle. Sisterhood does not only mean a fellowship between blood sisters, but anyone in which you share a bond or a connection. Sisterhood could also be someone who you support and love. It is our duty as God fearing woman to be an example to the world by showing a visual representation of true sisterhood with love and compassion towards one another as stated in John 13:35, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
We have the power within us to not only embrace and empower one another but to create a spirit of unity that can destroy the devil’s kingdom.
In Genesis 11th chapter we see a powerful example of unity in work with the Tower of Babel. These people had one goal in mind and that was to reach heaven. God had to intervene because they were going to accomplish this task so he created different languages in order for their communication to be broken. This example proves that when we as women of God are unified in purpose we can accomplish impossible feats. This is why unity among women of God is vital in our society today.
Society has painted a demeaning image of women especially African American women, by portraying us as mean, vindictive, loud mouth, neck snapping, scandalous and desperate females. In order for us to successfully change our image we must hold ourselves to a higher standard. We must also come together and learn to unite as women of God who are walking in our God given purpose. We can only win others to Christ when they see us winning together.
How can we come together in unity?
It’s simple, we begin by embracing the differences of one another. We must not allow jealousy, bitterness, hatred, envy and strife to come between us. These are signs of weakness and God has called us to be beautiful, strong women of God that know our strength comes from Him. Once we are able to overcome these issues with love we will be able to work together effectively. The bible states in 1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” We have a very powerful tool that is used to bring others to Christ and it’s called Love. Love is a small letter word that is packed with so much power. The way we show love towards each other is the only way some will ever see Christ in action.
Love is the answer.
God works through unity Colossians 3:14 states, “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony” Christ wants us to walk together in one accord so we can focus on our purpose which is to win souls to the kingdom of God. If the world see we as women of God can’t get along then where is the hope for them. We have so much to offer to one another. If we could only learn to build off each other’s strengths and empower one another through love we can accomplish anything. With God all things are possible.
